Meusburger has been developing innovative solutions for die making for over 10 years. But how did they get involved in this area? Let’s take a look into the past.
As you may already know, the use of high-quality standard parts from Meusburger opens up big saving potentials in die making. But that is no secret. Let’s reminisce and see how Meusburger launched into the die making industry.
How it all began
Managing director Guntram Meusburger had been thinking about how the die making division could be integrated at Meusburger since the beginning of the 2000s and the idea became more concrete in 2007. The real kick-off was in mid-2009 with an initial market analysis. Shortly afterwards, customers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland were visited and presented with concepts for the planned products. By going directly to the die makers with a questionnaire in hand, the customers’ standard parts requirements for the various aspects of die making were investigated. This ensured from the get go that customer requirements were met with the starter range. Some 200 visits and countless internal meetings later, the work was done and the first catalogue was published based on the market requirements that were identified in the first place.
Market launch in autumn 2010
With its debut appearance at the Euroblech trade fair in autumn 2010, Meusburger launched its newly developed range of innovative standard parts for die making. Subsequently, Gerhard Krammel, then project manager and die making expert and now Head of Business Units & Marketing at Meusburger, accompanied the field sales representatives on their visits to customers. That way customers were kept well informed about the new product range. It was important for the company to adopt a solution-oriented and conceptual approach: in other words, the focus was always on developing not just individual products but complete and well thought-out systems.
‘We were one of their first customers and by using Meusburger's standard parts for die making we save time in the offer, design and production process. This results in shortened project cycle time and buy us - and our customers - decisive days and weeks, especially for orders with critical deadlines’, says Florian Bertges from Bittner Werkzeugbau & Stanzerei.
New products on and on
After the successful launch on the market, the focus in the following years was on convincing new customers of the advantages of Meusburger's innovative die making products. To achieve this goal, product managers made many more customer visits and new products were added to the range several times a year. Some highlights from ten years of development work in die making at Meusburger are presented here:
In addition to these highlights, there were many other innovations developed by Meusburger - often according to the motto ‘You have a problem? We find the solution!’. In the future, Meusbuer will continue to pursue the goal of supporting customers with high-quality standard parts that make every day work much easier and lead to joint success.
